Small/Timid Dog Classes
For dogs that are fearful because of previous negative experiences. or dogs who are small or naturally shy and who need more positive experiences. These classes are a great way to build confidence and teach your dog to feel comfortable in the presence of other dogs and people. They’re also a great opportunity for you to learn about canine communication, such as calming signals and deterrent behaviour.
Quite often small or timid puppies find the combo of a new classroom + energetic puppies romping around in puppy classes to be overwhelming. To help with this, I offer socialization classes with dogs split up by size/temperament. These classes are held outdoors, weather permitting.
Socialization classes are also a great opportunity to practise interactions with humans. Please feel free to bring your tiny humans along with you too as long as they can follow instruction. This is a great opportunity for humans of ALL ages to learn how to interact with dogs to build their confidence while ensuring good manners (ie not rewarding jumping).
These classes are pay as you go, but they are not drop-in sessions. Cost is $20 per 30 minute session and only available to those enrolled in one of our programs or after completing a private lesson with one of our trainers.
Confident Dog Classes
So your dog already loves other dogs and is ready to play. Awesome! These classes are a great opportunity for your dog to have fun while learning to maintain acceptable energy levels in play. We are careful to make sure puppies are not overwhelming or bullying each-other. They also learn bite-inhibition and self-control while playing with one another. We teach them to earn play with calm behaviour each week, and you can also start to work on some of your skills from class (such as leave it, recall, and sits for greetings) under distractions.
Depending on what our group is like, these classes may be run as a group hike. Everyone who has signed up will be notified to wear appropriate footwear.
